Park Joo ho was born in Seoul, South Korea on January 16, 1987. He is of South Korean origin and has enjoyed playing football since he was a child. Park Gil-soo is his father’s name. He attended Soongsil University and began his playing career there.

In 2008, he joined the Japanese football team Mito HollyHock, then in 2009, he joined the Kashima Antlers. Park was part of the 2009 J1 League champions. He moved to Jubilo Iwata in 2010. He played for Iwata in the 2010 J League Cup. The South Korean defender signed a four-year contract with Basel in the Swiss Super League and made his debut against FC Luzern on August 20, 2011. He won the Swiss Super League in 2011/12 and 2012/13. In the summer of 2013, he signed a two-year contract with Mainz 05 and in 2015, he joined Borussia Dortmund’s junior squads.
