They were able to produce three albums and an EP for local label Twin/Tone before signing with Sire Records in 1985. They even went on to record four albums for Sire, each featuring a different lineup.

Paul Westerberg’s second solo album, “Eventually”, garnered mixed reviews in 1996. After quitting Reprise Records, he released blues-influenced recordings as Grandpaboy in 1997.

Suicaine Gratifaction, his third album, was released in 1999 with minimal marketing from Capitol Records. He subsequently took a three-year hiatus from major labels, returning in 2002 with two simultaneous releases, Stereo and Mono, on the small label Vagrant Records.
