In 1989, Lik returned to the United States with the goal of photographing the scenery and topography of all 50 states. Photographs by the photographer were sold as postcards and used in calendars. Some of the photographs he took throughout his efforts were featured in his coffee table book, Spirits of America, published in 2003.

He worked for Queensland, Australia’s tourism agency in the early 1990s. He had to trek across the outback and photograph sites that were less well-known. The photographer later relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada, and founded Lik USA, a photo printing and framing company. He later launched his own publishing firm in the mid-1990s, where he produced coffee table books, postcards, and calendars. In 1997, he released his first book, Australia: Images of a Timeless Land. He opened his gallery in Cairn, Australia, the same year. Similarly, he opened his first gallery in Lahaina, Hawaii, in 2003, and his second in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 2004. (2005). He opened a gallery in Manhattan’s SoHo district on a regular basis. Lik operates four galleries in Las Vegas and nine more across the United States.

With the continued company, one of Lik’s images was sold for approximately $1 million USD, making it the most expensive sale of his photograph at the time. One of the photographer’s images, titled “One,” sold for the eleventh-highest sum ever paid for a photograph. His other shot, “Ghost,” won the Windland Smith Rice International Awards’ Art om Nature category in 2010. It was also chosen for the Smithsonian Institution National Museum of Natural History’s nature photography show in Washington, D.C. The photograph was taken in a slot canyon, giving it a ghostly appearance. One of his images, “Inner Peace,” received the Windland Smith Rice International Award. In 2011, Lik made his debut as a host on the weather channel’s first original program, From The Edge With Peter Lik. Peter Lik’s adventure is featured in the documentary series.
