Born on December 29, 1983, Pulkit Samrat was brought up in Delhi by his real estate company-owning Punjabi Hindu family. Regarding his parents, nothing has come to light. He completed his schooling at Ashok Vihar, Delhi’s Montfort Senior Secondary School after attending Manav Sthali School. He enrolled at Delhi’s Apeejay Institute of Design to pursue a degree in advertising. But after attending classes for five months, he was assigned a modeling assignment. After that, he left school and traveled to Mumbai to join in acting classes run by Kishore Namit Kapoor.

Samrat moved to Mumbai in 2005, and he debuted as an actor in the popular television serial Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi on Balaji Telefilms in 2006. He got his first break for this performance, winning the Indian Telly Award for Fresh New Face – Male. Samrat left the program in 2007.
