Sarah Grace Perry FRSL was given birth on November 28, 1979, to a Sagittarius mother in Chelmsford, Essex. The 42-year-old English author is of Caucasian heritage, a devout Christian, and a citizen of the United Kingdom. Her Christian parents, who belonged to the Conservative Baptist church, raised her in a strict home. Her writing skills were impacted by her early exposure to classical music, classic literature, and poetry as well as church-related activities. Perry attended Royal Holloway University after graduating from Chelmsford County High School for Girls. Under Sir Andrew Motion’s guidance, she received her Ph.D. in Gothic writing, which she later published in Aeon magazine.
