Shawn Long is an accomplished professional basketball player from the United States. In the Japanese B. League, he is predominantly a power forward for the Levanga Hokkaido.

Shawn Long began his professional league career in America, with the Philadelphia 76ers, where he played preseason games. Since then, he has represented many international teams in league matches.

What is the Net Worth Shawn Long?

Shawn Long’s net worth is believed to be between $1 million and $5 million.

Shawn began his career with the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers, when he signed a ten-day deal for $31,000. Following the expiration of that deal, the 76ers signed him to a two-year contract for $1.5 million, however the team only paid him roughly $65k throughout the signing process.

Because he played more games for their NBA G League affiliate team, the Delaware 87ers, he was likely paid less. He participated in roughly 18 matches for them towards the conclusion of 2016-17, thus they offered him almost $90,000.

There isn’t a lot of information on his earnings in international leagues. Nonetheless, according to certain media sites, he is making about $1 million this season playing for the Levanga Hokkaido.

Despite the fact that the Japanese league’s average base wage is roughly $145k, they like to pay more to international players with major league experience. Shawn Long is now making a respectable living in the B. League.

About Shawn Long ( Early Life, Family & Education )

Shawn Long was born in Morgan City, Louisiana, on January 29, 1993. He is the oldest child of Carolyn Long, a native of Louisiana.

In addition to him, she has a daughter called Shelly. Shelly died in 2018 from an autoimmune condition.

Long and his father had a strong relationship, and he was always there to watch after everyone. Shawn’s father, however, died of cancer when he was just twelve years old.

Shawn Long during his high school days

Following that tragic event, he moved to a tiny hamlet in Louisiana with his mother and grandmother, where he attended Morgan City High School, which was just a short distance away from their home.

Carolyn, his mother, was the family’s only earner, therefore she put forth a lot of effort to meet her children’s requirements. Apart from that, his grandma was a huge assistance since she cared after them while his mother was away.

Regrettably, his grandma died just two years after his father.

Long’s hometown, which he dubbed “Across The Tracks,” was a close-knit community with a strong basketball culture. Despite being heavy as a child, Shawn got along and learned to like the sport.

Fights and other crimes were widespread in his hometown, which was concerning.

He was fully aware of his mother’s struggles as a child, having grown up in a poor home. As a result, he never did anything to upset her. He also had an unique affinity for basketball that he received from his late father, therefore he never stopped playing it.

However, he never saw himself as a professional athlete, much alone one who would play in the NBA, throughout his boyhood.

A Professional Life

Shawn had a strong suspicion that he would be taken in the NBA draft in 2016, much as his buddy Payton had done two years before. Furthermore, his academic record throughout college was outstanding, which raised his hopes significantly.

He went undrafted, and on July 8, 2017, he signed a short-term deal with the Philadelphia 76ers. On October 24, he was dismissed by the team after just seven preseason games.

Long with the Philadelphia 76ers

He did not appear in an NBA regular season game until 2017. He was a member of the NBA Development League’s Delaware 87ers when the 76ers needed to fill a roster after several of its regular players were injured.

In the 2016-17 season, he played in 18 games and averaged 8.2 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. His performance was good for a replacement player, but he was not wanted by the team.

Personal Life

Shawn Long’s status as a married man is unclear. Because the athlete mostly plays abroad, nothing about him appears in the American media, hence most of his current personal information remain a mystery.

Furthermore, he has totally removed himself from social media, leaving practically little information about his personal life available.

Shawn Long does, however, have a son called Jace Long, according to a 2015 CBS Sports report.

When he went home from Mississippi State University before coming to the University of Louisiana to play collegiate basketball, he was born around 2011.

Apart than that, there is no knowledge on Jace’s mother. So, whatever the reason, he wants his personal life to remain secret. However, we will continue to monitor this and provide you with updates as we learn more about this connected problem.
