Early Years:

Marquis Amonte King, also known as Shy Glizzy, was born on December 12, 1992, in Southeast Washington, DC. King’s father was shot and died when he was just a baby. Then, his mother and grandmother reared him and his younger brother. King repeatedly ran afoul of the law as a youth; at the age of 14, he was detained for minor larceny, and at the age of 16, he was detained for robbery. He was detained as a juvenile for 14 months as a result of the latter offence. Throughout his imprisonment, King completed his GED.

Mixtapes

Early in 2011, King started going under the artist moniker Shy Glizzy and dropped his debut musical effort, the mixtape “No Brainer.” He later released his second mixtape, “Streets Hottest Youngin,” on Halloween. Midway through 2012, Glizzy released his third mixtape, “Law,” which included the rappers Wale and Project Pat as special guests. The 11-track mixtape “Fly Money,” which Glizzy and Jose Guapo collaborated on, was then made available. “Fxck Rap” followed this a month later. Glizzy’s sixth mixtape, “Law 2,” including guest appearances from Yo Gotti, Kevin Gates, and Migos, was released in August 2013.

“Young Jefe,” Glizzy’s seventh mixtape, was released in the beginning of 2014. Young Scooter, Gudda Gudda, and Young Thug made several guest appearances in it. The single “Awwsome,” which debuted on the mixtape, peaked at number 45 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs list. “Law 3: Now or Never” was the title of Glizzy’s ensuing mixtape. Then he and his Glizzy Gang collective jointly published the album “Be Careful.” When that was over, Glizzy dropped “For Trappers Only.” He then released “Young Jefe 2,” his second mixtape, in the summer of 2016. The mixtapes “Quiet Storm,” “Covered n’ Blood,” and “Young Jefe 3” are some of Glizzy’s previous releases.
