Originally from Ontario, Canada, Ennik Somi Douma, mononymously known as Somi, was born on 09 March 2001 under the star sign Pisces. The 20-year-old singer is Canadian by nationality and is of Canadian, Korean, and Dutch origin. She graduated from Cheongdam Middle School on 3 February 2017 and Hanlim Multi Art School, concentrating in Practical Music and Vocal, on 7 February the same year.

Professional life and career

Somi signed JYP Entertainment in 2014. The following year, she garnered national attention after she participated in the Mnet reality survival program Sixteen and made it to the final round. But she couldn’t get herself a spot in the label’s girl group ‘Twice.’In 2016, Somi finished in the top spot while representing JYPE on reality survival program Produce 101.

She debuted with the project girl group I.O.I on 4 May 2016, soon after launching with the EP Chrysalis under YMC Entertainment. The same year, she released the digital single ‘Flower, Wind and You’ and was selected as the new host for SBS MTV’s The Show.In 2017, Somi joined the cast of KBS2’s Sister’s Slam Dunk 2.
