Tan was also named a Deputy District Judge for the Magistrates’ Court in 2003 and a District Judge the following year. He was made an assistant judge for the Sovereign Base Areas of Cyprus in 2015. He was made a deputy senior district judge for the Magistrates’ Court in 2017.
Rumors and Scandals
Three protesters were found guilty but given conditional discharges on February 13, 2024. This was because of pictures they seemed to be carrying or wearing that praised Hamas, a political and military movement that runs the Gaza Strip and has been labeled a terrorist group by the UK. Some reasons were given for not making this choice.
The police found that Ikram liked and shared an internet statement by pro-Palestinian lawyer Sham Uddin that called out “Israeli terrorists in the UK, the US, and of course Israel.”
So, the Campaign Against Antisemitism said they would file a complaint with the Judicial Conduct Investigations Office about Ikram’s decision in this case. The Crown Prosecution Service says it can ask for the case to be looked at again by a judge.
