Tim, who was born into a family that couldn’t afford to buy him a typewriter, was one of those people who had to forge his own identity. Cook rewrote his life in a different language after receiving a master’s degree from Duke University and being appointed CEO of Apple.
Cook’s Multi-billion company earned him a spot on the list of the world’s richest typhoons. But it was only recently that he was given a new title. He became the first person at a Fortune 500 company to come out publicly as gay after coming out on October 20, 2014.
After years of being questioned about his sexuality in public and receiving piles of emails from teenagers experiencing the same crisis, he chose to reveal his true self to the world and allow others to connect with his story.
In the same year, he openly discussed his sexuality in an exclusive interview with CNN:
“I’m extremely proud of it.” Being gay is “God’s most precious gift to me.”The Apple CEO went on to say that coming out has helped him a lot and taught him a lot in life. He reported that he developed empathy for other people and felt a stronger connection to those who were in a similar situation.
He stated:
