Tom Tiffany

Tom Tiffany is an elected official. He is a Senator for the state of Wisconsin.

Tom is also the incoming United States Representative for Wisconsin’s 7th congressional district. He has also served in the Wisconsin State Legislature. In a special election in May, he beat Democrat Tricia Zunker to represent Wisconsin’s 7th congressional district.

Early childhood development and education

Tiffany was born in Wabasha, Minnesota, and grew up on a dairy farm with five brothers and two sisters near Elmwood, Pierce County, Wisconsin. He earned his B.S. in 1976 after graduating from Elmwood High School. In 1980, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics from the University of Wisconsin–River Falls.

Tiffany worked for a farm cooperative’s petroleum division in Plainview, Minnesota, before moving to Minocqua, Wisconsin, in 1988 to oversee Zenker Oil Company’s petroleum distribution. Since 1991, he and his wife, Chris, have run an excursion business on the Willow Flowage.

Tiffany is an appointed member of the Oneida County Economic Development Corporation and served as the Town Supervisor of Little Rice, Wisconsin, from 2009 to 2013. He ran for the Wisconsin State Senate in 2004 and 2008, first against Senator Roger Breske and then against Jim Holperin, losing both times in tight elections. In 2010, he ran for the Wisconsin State Assembly after retiring incumbent Donald Friske stepped down. Tiffany won the primary and went on to defeat Democrat Jay Schmelling by a margin of 58.09 percent to 41.81 percent in the general election.

In 2012, Tiffany chose not to seek re-election to the State Assembly and instead to run again for the State Senate after Holperin announced he would not run for reelection. He defeated Democrat Susan Sommer, 56 percent to 40 percent, in the general election on November 6, 2012.
