Thomas James Laughlin, better known by his ring name Tommy Dreamer, is an American professional wrestler and promoter who also works as a wrestler, producer, and member of Impact Wrestling’s creative team. He is the owner and promoter of the House of Hardcore organization, for which he also competes. Before the term “Extreme” was added, ECW was still known as Eastern Championship Wrestling when he arrived. Tommy marketed the WWE’s Raw and ECW franchises.

He is also well known for his stints with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), primarily from 2001 to 2010, and Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) in the 1990s and early 2000s. On the July 29th (2010–2011) edition of “Impact!” Tommy made his professional wrestling debut for TNA, losing to Abyss in a No Disqualification match, as opposed to his debut for Wrestling New Classic (WNC). Madison, Tommy Dreamer makes his professional wrestling debut in International World Class Championship Wrestling (IWCCW), where he and his fictional brother G.Q held the IWCCW Tag Team Championship three times in 1991. While wrestling for the New England-based Century Wrestling Alliance (CWA) in 1992, he changed his name to Tommy Dreamer. On November 5, 1992, he defeated “Mr. USA” Tony Atlas in the tournament final held in Wallingford, Connecticut, to become the organization’s inaugural Heavyweight Champion. He also competed in a dark match against The Brooklyn Brawler on August 17, 1993, during a WWF Superstars taping in White Plains, New York.

At NWA Bloodfest in October 1993, he signed on with Eastern Championship Wrestling (ECW), and at The Night the Line Was Crossed, he made wrestling history by being the first person to kick out of the pin that comes after Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka’s Superfly “Splash.” Although his first “major” feud in ECW was with the blind Sandman angle, his later, protracted conflict with Raven, which began in January 1995, is undoubtedly his most memorable. Additionally, he began a symbolic rivalry with Jerry “The King” Lawler of the World Wrestling Federation after Raven switched to World Championship Wrestling. Lawler represented the more “old school” methods of the World Wrestling Federation and United States Wrestling Association, while Tommy represented the “new school” methods of Extreme Championship Wrestling. In 1998, Tommy and The Dudley Boyz (Buh Buh Ray and D-Von) got into a brief dispute in which they “broke” Beulah’s neck. Additionally, after Mark Henry won the ECW Championship at Night of Champions, he was given his first challenger. After Colin Delaney betrayed him and cost him the match at The Great American Bash, Dreamer defeated Delaney again on August 12, 2008, in an Extreme Rules Grudge Encounter, which would be Delaney’s final match in the WWE. Henry then defeated Delaney to win the championship. He then focused on Jack Swagger, who made derogatory remarks about Dreamer and ECW but ended the rivalry by defeating Dreamer in an Extreme Rules battle.

On the ECW episode from January 13th, 2009, Tommy made the announcement that he would no longer compete for ECW if he didn’t capture the ECW Championship by June 6, the date his WWE contract was set to expire. In the plot, Dreamer began a losing run, which was broken on the “ECW” program from February 24 when he defeated Paul Burchill. He was given a one-day extension on his contract, giving him one last shot at the ECW Championship. Later, he successfully defended the championship in a Championship Scramble match at The Bash after defeating Christian on the 15th June episode of “Raw.” Tommy wrestled Zack Ryder on the ECW episode airing on December 29 and lost. If he were to lose the fight, he (kayfabe) would have to give up ringside combat. After working for WWE for eight years, he was officially let go by the business a few days later, on January 4, 2010. On June 13, 2010, at Slammiversary VIII, Dreamer made his debut for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. By showing up in the audience and distracting Brother Ray, he cost him his bout against Jesse Neal. On the 29th July episode of “Impact!” he competed for TNA for the first time, losing to Abyss in a No Disqualification match.

He made his pay-per-view debut for Dragon Gate USA in Phoenix, Arizona on March 27, where he lost a hard-hitting match to Jon Moxley that was taped for the Mercury Rising pay-per-view. On January 23, 2010, he made his debut for Dragon Gate USA, sparing Jacobs and Lacey from a beating at the hands of Moxley. On February 20, he defeated Shane Douglas, a fellow former ECW champion, to win the title of promotion’s Universal Heavyweight Champion. In addition, he launched his own wrestling promotion and school in 2012 under the name House of Hardcore, the previous name of the ECW wrestling academy. On October 6, 2012, the promotion made its debut at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie, New York. In the first show’s main event, which also featured Mike Knox, he lost the FWE Heavyweight Championship to Carlito in a three-way contest. At Bound for Glory, Dreamer defended Edwards from an attack by Killer Kross and Moose, which prompted a tag team bout that the team won. On January 23, 2019, it was made public Tommy Dreamer would now be contributing to Impact Wrestling’s creative staff. Then he started a feud with Brian Pillman Jr. over his disrespect for veterans like himself and Kevin Sullivan, and he defeated Pillman in their first meeting. However, three weeks later, on the December 21st episode of “MLW Fusion,” Pillman would pin Dreamer in a tag team match. In a Singapore Cane match on the 11th January 2019 episode of “Fusion,” Pillman prevailed over Dreamer. He competed in the All Elite Wrestling (AEW) Casino Battle Royale in their first pay-per-view event, Double or Nothing, on May 25, 2019, however he lost because Jimmy Havoc eliminated him. He produced the show backstage at their PPV All Out that followed.
