Toni was privileged to be the general manager of his team and to have his school’s deans as cousins. Toni agreed to practice while both reading and attending the end-of-year tests.

He began his basketball career at the age of 17 with his hometown club, KK Jugoplastika. He was one of the club’s top players, enjoying tremendous success.

With Toni on their side, the squad won the renowned EuroLeague for three consecutive seasons (1989–1991).

He started behind small forward Scottie Pippen and power forward Horace Grant during the 1993–1994 seasons. He can, however, also play shooting guard and center.

The 76ers acquired Dikembe Mutombo and Roshown McLeod as part of a blockbuster transaction.

Kuko was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks after a brief run with the Atlanta Hawks. Along with Leon Smith, he was a part of a trade to acquire Glenn Robinson.

The constant exchange and transition may have upset Kuko. If he was not signed by either the Milwaukee Bucks or the Chicago Bulls for the 2006–07 NBA season, he announced his retirement from professional basketball.

The announcement was made on September 12, 2006.

Tony Kukoc has been courted by a number of NBA teams, but he has always preferred to relocate. He eventually moved to Highland Park, Illinois, which was close to his childhood home.
