Baseball Player Trevor Williams’  Contract

From 2011 to 2013, Trevor Williams played collegiate baseball at Arizona State University. Later, in the second round of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft, he was selected by the Miami Marlins.

Williams went on to play college baseball for the Arizona State Sun Devils after graduating from Rancho Bernardo High School in 2011. During his career, he started 38 games and went 18-8 with a 2.98 earned run average (ERA). In 2012, he played collegiate summer baseball for the Cape Cod Baseball League’s Orleans Firebirds.

The Miami Marlins

Williams was drafted in the second round of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft by the Miami Marlins.[5][6] He made his professional debut with the Gulf Coast Marlins that year, as well as with the Batavia Muckdogs and Greensboro Grasshoppers. He was 0-2 with a 2.38 ERA in 12 starts for the three teams.

Williams began the 2014 season with the Jupiter Hammerheads, where he earned Florida State League All-Star honors before being promoted to the Jacksonville Suns in August. He was 8-7 with a 3.13 ERA in 26 games started for both clubs. Williams pitched in 25 games (24 starts) for both Jacksonville and the New Orleans Zephyrs in 2015, posting a 7-10 record and 3.85 ERA.

Pirates of Pittsburgh

The Marlins traded Williams to the Pittsburgh Pirates for Richard Mitchell on October 24, 2015, in exchange for the Pirates signing Jim Benedict as their new vice president of pitching development. And he pitched for the Indianapolis Indians in 2016, going 9-6 with a 2.53 ERA in twenty games (19 starts).

Williams got called up to the Major Leagues in September of 2016. He was 1-1 with a 7.82 ERA in 12+23 innings pitched for the Pirates.

Williams began the 2017 season in Pittsburgh’s bullpen. He was eventually promoted to the starting rotation as the season continued. And he was 7-9 with a 4.07 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in 31 games (25 starts) for the Pirates. He began the season as part of Pittsburgh’s starting rotation. Williams had a breakout season, finishing with an ERA of 3.11 in 31 starts with a record of 14-10 in 170+23 innings. He finished 2-8 with a 6.18 ERA in 2020. He topped the National League in home runs allowed (15). Williams was designated for assignment on November 20, 2020. On November 28, he opted for free agency.

The Chicago Cubs

Williams signed a one-year, $2.5 million contract with the Chicago Cubs on February 5, 2021. Williams was placed on the disabled list on May 31 after undergoing an emergency appendectomy. He went 4-2 with a 5.06 ERA over 58+23 innings in 13 games (12 starts) with the Cubs.
