Vanessa got her start in Michael Bennett’s original Broadway production of Dreamgirls. In 1985, she was cast as an actress in the ABC daytime serial series All My Children.

She relocated to Los Angeles in 1986, where she starred in episodes of prime-time shows such as The Colbys, Falcon Crest, 227, China Beach, A Different World, and L.A. Law.

With Number One With a Bullet, Bell makes her film debut. Despite her lack of acting experience, she contributes her voice to the 1992 animated comedy Bébé’s Kids.
