On February 21, 1964, in Bagiya village, Kansabel tehsil, Jashpur district, Chhattisgarh (then Madhya Pradesh), India, Vishnu Dev Sahay (59 as of 2023) was born. His mother Jashmani Devi was a homemaker, while his father Ram Prasad Sai was a farmer. He has a younger brother named Omprakash. He follows Hinduism and is a Scheduled (ST) member. Vishnu finished his intermediate education at Kunkuri, Jashpur’s Loyola Higher intermediate School in 1981. Instead of going to college, he entered politics at a young age.
Professional life and Career:
In the 1980s, Vishnu Dev Sahay joined the BJP and easily won the Sarpanch elections in his hamlet of Bagia. This marked the beginning of his political career. He elected as Madhya Pradesh’s first MLA in 1990 after winning the Tapkara parliamentary seat. Vishnu chosen again to serve in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 1993, this time from the Tapkara seat. He elected to the Madhya Pradesh (later Chhattisgarh) Raigarh seat in 1999, marking his maiden election to the 13th Lok Sabha. Vishnu re-elected from the same seat to the 14th, 15th, and 16th Lok Sabha in 2004, 2009, and 2014.
