He made his film debut as Pavel Chekov in 1979’s Star Trek: The Motion Picture. After that, he made subsequent appearances in several Star Trek movies. He portrayed Col. Jason Grant in Moontrap in 1989. He also appeared in Star Trek Generations in 1994.
Walter played Joe Merchant in Drawing Down the Moon. He was a participant in the 2006 movie Mad Cowgirl. He made an appearance in InAlienable the next year. After it, there was a part as Lassie in Blue Dream.
In 2017, he made appearances in the motion pictures Neil Stryker and the Tyrant of Time and Nobility. A year later, in the movie Diminuendo, he portrayed Milton Green.
