Wesley was born in Houston, Texas, on November 13, 1981. Wesley Parish Hunt is his birth name. He is the child of Willie L. Hunt and Dianne Johnson Hunt. After serving as an Army Lieutenant Colonel, his father had retired.

Hunt flew the AH-64D Apache Longbow helicopter while serving as an Aviation Branch Officer in the Army until his honorable release as a captain in 2012. He served as a diplomatic liaison officer during this time, being sent twice to Iraq and once to Saudi Arabia. He ran for Texas’s 7th Congressional District in 2020.

In the Republican primary, he garnered sixty-one percent of the votes. But in the general election, Democratic incumbent Lizzie Fletcher won 50.8% of the vote, while Hunt lost by a razor-thin margin with 47.4%. With almost 63.8% of the vote, Hunt defeated ten other contenders in the GOP primary two years later, in 2022.

In the newly created west Houston district, he won the general election for U.S. House Texas District 38 on November 8, 2022, defeating independent Joel DeJean with 1.2% of the vote and Democrat Duncan Klussmann with 35.0%.

In the Congressional District’s history, Hunt was its first representative. On January 3, 2023, Wesley was sworn in as a Republican to serve as the 38th congressional district representative from Texas.
