The Memphis Grizzlies selected Franklin with the 41st overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft.

He joined the team in July 2014 in preparation for the NBA Summer League, and the Grizzlies later released him in August.
Then in October 2014, Franklin joined the Zhejiang Lions of the Chinese Basketball Association for a two-month contract.
