He was born in Mexico City on February 21, 1929. He was his parents’ second child.

Gómez was an amateur boxer before he entered the acting world. He received a Mechanical Engineering degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), although he never worked in the profession. Meza and Bolaos first developed a romantic connection in 1977.

At the time, the two of them were El Chavo del Ocho’s lead actors on television. But for five years prior to being together, Gomez pursued Meza. When they first started dating, they faced criticism, but Meza stepped forward to defend herself. She asserted firmly that Bolaos had his own issues and that she was not a wife thief.

Meza and Gómez Bolaos started touring heavily in 1995 when the Chespirito production was finished. They spent a long time traveling together before deciding to get married. They had a civil ceremony to tie the knot on November 19, 2004. Although spending a lot of time together, they never had children.
