Willard Scott’s Childhood

Willard (born March 7, 1934) attended George Washington High School in Alexandria, Virginia. Scott was interested in broadcasting and began working as an NBC page at the age of 16 in 1950 at WRC-Am, NBC’s owned and operated radio station in Washington, D.C. He then attended American University, where he worked at WAMU-Am, the university’s radio station, alongside fellow student Ed Walker. Scott holds a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy and religion from American University.

Willard Scott’s Career and Accomplishments

From 1951 to 1972, he worked as a radio jockey and weatherman at various stations in Washington, D.C. In 1968, he began reporting the weather for NBC affiliate WRC-TV. Scott’s 65-year career with NBC came to an end on December 15, 2015.

Scott has written and co-written seven books, including America Is My Neighbourhood and The Older the Fiddle, the Better the Tune.

Scott was married to Mary Dwyer Scott, who died of cancer in October 2002. They married in 1959. They had been married for 43 years and had two daughters, Mary Scott and Sally Scott, together.

Willard is also the grandfather of two grandchildren, John and Sally. Scott married his longtime girlfriend for the second time in April 2014. In April 2014, he married an old coworker named Paris Keena. They married at the age of 80 in Fort Myers, Florida. They’ve been dating for about 11 years.

Scott met his wife, who is believed to be 57 years old, for the first time in 1977 while working for Washington television station WRC. The couple is content with their lives and shows no signs of divorcing.
