On STS-51-J Atlantis, which took off from Florida’s Kennedy Space Center and landed at California’s Edwards Air Force Base between October 3 and 7, 1985, he served as the payload specialist. The second flight of the Department of Defense’s Space Shuttle was STS-51-J. Additionally, it was the Atlantis orbiter’s first flight.
