According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, the University of Michigan has hired Martindale as its next defensive coordinator.

Martindale spent the previous two seasons with the Giants before both parties mutually agreed to separate ways at the end of the 2023 season. The seasoned coach came to New York after a successful four-year stint as the Baltimore Ravens’ defensive coordinator.

Martindale replaces recently recruited Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter, who left the program to follow former Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh to Los Angeles.
