He was included in the 26 when Japan’s roster was reduced from 35 to 26, and he represented Japan in a 2-0 loss to Ghana on May 31 in a friendly match prior to the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The following day, however, the team was reduced from 26 to the final 23 players, and he was left out.
