On the final day of the 2019–2020 campaign, he scored his first Premier League goal with a long-range shot in a 2-1 away victory against Burnley. Also, On the third of October, he scored his first goal of the current campaign in a 4-2 away loss against Everton. On January 23, 2021, in a fourth-round FA Cup match at home against Blackpool, Bissouma scored a goal from 30 yards to give Brighton the lead. Brighton went on to win 2-1. In his second game of the 2021–2022 campaign, he gave his first Albion assist to Neal Maupay in a 2-0 home win over Watford on August 21, and on February 5 of the following year, he scored his first goal of the campaign, putting Brighton one goal ahead of Tottenham in a 3-1 away loss in the FA Cup fourth round.

After receiving 10 yellow cards in April, Yves was thus suspended for Brighton’s 3-0 loss at Manchester City on the road and 2-2 draw against Southampton at home. After serving his sentence, he later scored Albions’ third goal in a 3-0 away win over Wolves, smashing their previous Premier League record of 41 points. His 20-yard shot found the bottom corner. His biggest ever top-flight victory, a 4-0 home victory over Manchester United, was played out entirely by him. On June 14th, it was revealed that Tottenham and Bissouma had reached a £30 million agreement.

International career

In the 2016 African Nations Championship, Yves Bissouma played for Mali. He was replaced in the 76th minute and scored the game-winning goal for 1-0 in the 89th minute against the Ivory Coast in the semifinal. But they ultimately fell short to DR Congo in the championship game. He was selected for Mali’s team to compete in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, which will take place in January 2022.

He also participated in the opening game on January 13th, replacing Adama Traore in the 59th minute of the contentious 1-0 victory over Tunisia. He participated in all four of Mali’s games on January 26 as they lost to Equatorial Guinea on penalties in the round of 16.

On October 6, 2021, Bissouma was detained by Sussex Police on suspicion of sexually abusing a woman. He was handcuffed and led from Brighton nightclub The Arch. His initial release date was set for 3 November, however it was later delayed to 6 December. On December 8th, it was revealed that he had been granted bail for a further four weeks. In a further statement from Sussex Police in January 2022, it was noted that he was currently being freed under investigation as inquiries went on.
