He was a co-founder and CEO of Sunnyvale, California-based Align Technology, a medical technology company, from 1997 to 1997. In 1998, Align Technologies received approval from the Food and Drug Administration to market and distribute Invisalign. With a $1 billion market valuation, Align Technology went public on the NASDAQ in January 2001.

In addition, he sold the shares he held in Align Technology when he left the company in 2003. After that, he started The Resource Group (TRG) as its first chairman and CEO. The first company that TRG bought was Align Technology’s Lahore, Pakistani business, which Align had sold off in 2001.

In July 2003, he listed TRG on the Karachi Stock Exchange. By 2005, the company had bought and supported American contact centers in addition to establishing operations in Karachi and Lahore.

In 2005, Chishti and other former employees of Align Technology co-founded Orthoclear, a startup company focused on medical devices.
