In the 2001 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens selected Heap with the 31st overall pick. Through the completion of the 2009 NFL season, he had appeared in 120 games, 115 of which he started.
Todd Heap had 16 receptions for 206 yards and one score in his debut season, playing behind eight-time Pro Bowler Shannon Sharpe.
After Sharpe left for free agency in 2002, he took over as the Ravens’ starting tight end. The Ravens finished 7-9 in Todd Heap’s second season.
