The COVID-19 pandemic and other events in 2020 have been tragic, but for April Beckner, the worst thing that happened in August was when her boyfriend Drew Drechsel was arrested on suspicion of child sex. To get into the specifics, the Ninja Warrior star began dating a minor in 2015, when they met the then-15-year-old girl at an ANW event in New Jersey.

Beckner’s partner exchanged phone numbers with the minor and continued to communicate via text messages. Surprisingly, he was still in a relationship with April at the time. Drechsel later arranged for the girl to come to his gym in Hamden, Connecticut, on her 15th birthday. During their meetings at the gym, the two allegedly discussed sexual activity. Similarly, after a few meetings, Drechsel and the young girl allegedly became intimate in his office, after April had left the premises.

In June 2019, the girl finally came forward with the allegations against the celebrity, accompanied by sufficient evidence, such as recordings of their sexual encounter. Drew was arrested after an investigation and charged with several counts, including the production of child pornography, the use of interstate commerce to entice a minor, and several sexual offenses. The arrest and allegations were too much for April to bear, so she deleted all of her social media accounts and stayed out of the public eye. Only time will tell if the two’s relationship will last or end.
