In 1984, India arranged “Everest ’84,” their fourth attempt to summit Mount Everest. Six Indian women and eleven men were selected, including Bachendri Pal, to attempt climbing Mount Everest (also known as Sagarmatha in Nepalese). The crew was flown to Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, in March 1984, and then they continued.
