On June 17, 1943, Barry Manilow was born in Brooklyn, New York. Manilow was raised in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn and earned his diploma in 1961 from the now-closed Eastern District High School. In high school, he got to know Susan Deixler, with whom he briefly married. Before enrolling at the New York College of Music, Barry briefly attended City College of New York.
