Boy George, the openly gay British singer, has had an interesting life. He appears to have seen it all, from early success as the leader of the 1980s rock group Culture Club to serving as a judge on The Voice franchise.
Whether it was the public breakup with fellow British superstar George Michael or a verbal altercation with One Direction sensation Liam Payne, the Brit has been able to weather all the music industry has thrown at him.
It’s no wonder, then, that Boy, at the age of 57, has achieved the longevity that every artist strives to achieve by the conclusion of his or her career.
You may wonder what his secret to success is. The Culture Club vocalist has kept faithful to his “origins” throughout his 40-year career as a musician/artist, in that he has been an outspoken opponent of anti-gay speech on the internet.
“I’m A Gay Man, And I Tell Women They’re…
However, his kind internet comments haven’t always turned out the way he hoped.
After making a few shots at Lady Gaga’s most recent photos, Gay Star News journalist Jamie Tabberer called the Voice judge a hypocrite.
An excerpt from the article, titled “As Boy George mocks Gaga’s appearance, why gay men must stop judging women,” was published on August 31, 2018.
“But today’s topic is: why, oh why, do homosexual men feel compelled to comment on women’s appearances?”
In September of 2018, after a month’s of silence, The Voice judge spoke out about the critical issue in an interview with the New York Post’s music critic, Alex Aktar. Despite claiming to regularly pass judgment on people’s appearances, the openly homosexual artist insisted his remark was not directed towards Gaga. He clarified his statement by adding:
“It wasn’t necessarily about her; I just find individuals fascinating because of their flaws and facial personalities.”
Those who follow Jamie, a 57-year-old Londoner, would argue that he is incorrect. The boy has openly lauded ladies on numerous occasions while embracing his sexuality. He wrote: In a tweet from April of 2018, he wrote:
“I’m a gay man who always tells women that they are beautiful.”
Boy, whose roots are in southeast London, hasn’t always been open about his sexuality. In the middle of purported romances with Kirk Brandon of The Spear of Destiny, he refused to address queries about his sexual identity for years.
Before coming out as gay, he claimed to be in straight relationships.

The Karma Chameleon singer recently made news once more after being pictured wearing a ring. The boy had secretly married, according to a report that was later debunked.
The 57-year-old claimed to have been in a relationship with Culture Club drummer Jon Moss in his autobiography, Take It Like A Man. Jon, his ex-partner, is now married to a woman.
Similarly, George discussed his friendship with Jon in a recent THR interview, saying:
“Jon and I have a legendary beast of a relationship. It’s a little strange when people claim we’ve had a relationship. [Laughs] I’m sure we did something, but let’s pretend we didn’t.”
Culture Club was disbanded after the couple’s breakup, and Boy went on to become a solo superstar. One gig led to another, and he soon found himself as a judge on the hit television show The Voice.

Is It Really Your Intention To Hurt Me?
Starting in 2016 as a replacement for Tim Jones on The Voice UK, the singer has judged three seasons across two different The Voice platforms. After a one-season appearance on The Voice Australia, he left the franchise at the end of the season, only to return a year later in 2018 for the brand’s seventh season.

The boy is looking forward to life on the road ahead as he and his Culture Club family prepare for the next North American Tour, with the seventh season of The Voice UK ending on 17 June 2018 and the Culture Club’s much-anticipated comeback album set to arrive on 26 October 2018.
Let Me Somebody Love You, the band’s reggae-influenced first track from their comeback album Life, sounds eerily similar to their blockbuster track Do You Really Want To Hurt Me.
In a recent Billboard interview, the Culture Club leader discussed what it’s like to suffer stage fright while talking about the band’s next tour. He stated, ”
“I usually think to myself, “Oh, I’ve forgotten what to do, I’ve forgotten what to say,” or “Will I be able to engage?” when I go on tour. And, like riding a bike or a horse, it all comes back to you over time, and I believe this is true for everyone on stage.”
In an interview with Greg Archer of Palm Springs Life, the 57-year-old expressed a similar attitude when he drew a link between his failed romances and the aforementioned stage anxiety. He joked, ”
“Every time you love someone, you risk getting wounded, and you risk it not being precisely what you want it to be, according to my definition of love. I assume it’s similar to being on stage.”
The openly gay pop singer attributed his stage frights and aversion to committing to a relationship to “unpredictability.” This smidgeon of insecurity, on the other hand, has aided Boy in creating great songs.

Boy’s life on the road and TV appearances are guaranteed to add to his already massive net worth, which is estimated to be over $35.5 million — an accomplishment that ensures he’s as relevant now as he was when he first entered the music world.
