Have you ever heard of a “polygamous church”? Although few people are aware of them, these churches really exist. Religious groups known as polygamous churches follow the practice of having several spouses at once. She is the former spouse of the founder of the FLDS Church, a polygamous organization.

Charlene was one of nine wives of Lyle Jeffs, the former president and leader of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS). Although a church is meant to be a place of worship, the FLDS Church operates differently.

How much is the Net worth of Charlene Jeffs?

Following her divorce from Lyle, Charlene led a secluded existence away from the FLDS and the public. Her life fell apart once the church excommunicated her. She was said to have dug through dumpsters for meals and lived in extreme poverty. Her current net worth is unknown to the general public due to her secretive lifestyle.

However, like Geoff Cutmore, her ex-husband also has a net worth of at least $2 million. He supposedly made the most of his money through illicit means as the leader of FLDS. Lyle was wealthy because he was a FLDS bishop. In the church, the Jeff family was compared to the British Royal Family; they even had their own “secret service.”

She does receive money as child support even though it is unknown how much she is worth. Jeffs consented to pay $1,000 in child support each month; after the boy turns 18, his payment will drop to $600.

In addition, Lyle will provide a car, pay for the boy’s education and medical requirements, and provide up to $2,000 a month to help Charlene Jeffs with two-thirds of her housing bills.

Charlene’s Relationship with Lyle Jeffs

Charlene and Lyle’s relationship was not a happy one. The president and head of the polygamous FLDS Church was Lyle Jeffs. The church engaged in unlawful and unconventional practices under the pretext of spirituality.

Lyle was supposedly a member of a polygamous church and had nine wives. Although Charlene was one of Lyle’s wives, the two had been lawfully wed in 1983. At eighteen, Charlene was the first “spiritual wife” of the nine.

Before she divorced Bishop Lyle in 2015, the two had been together for more than 31 years. She accused her spouse of sexual assault and the sect’s unlawful activities in her divorce complaint. Charlene is attempting to regain custody of her two children and the ten children she shared with her ex-husband.

Charlene Was Not Allowed to See Her Children

Lyle was the leader of the FLDS church, which Charlene belonged to. Lyle and Charlene were parents to ten kids. Charlene was disliked by the leader of the group because she was “open-minded.” Lyle would discipline Charlene as a result. Charlene made the following claims in a petition that was received by The Salt Lake Tribune earlier this month:

‘Of Lyle’s multiple wives, I was never the favorite because I have a mind of my own. Lyle sent me away from the family to repent for the first time in November 2002 because ”I did not know how to properly treat the Priesthood in my life”.’ 

Charlene’s husband felt it was necessary for her to let her kids go. For Charlene, the unconventional actions and practices were too much to take in. Charlene sued for divorce as a result, and she was granted official freedom in 2015. She is still vying for custody of her two kids, though.

Few Details About the Unorthodox Chruch, FLDS

The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, or FLDS for short, is an unorthodox church that engages in polygamy. Back in the 1930s, J. Leslie Broadbent built this chapel. Lyle Jeffs’ father, Rulon Jeffs, was the church’s late leader.

It was customary in the church for someone to have several wives. Rulon, on the other hand, had a total of 65 wives and 65 kids. Warren Jeffs and Lyle Jeffs were the leaders among the kids.

In a fairly obscene tradition, the wives of the church would copulate with other men who were referred to as “seed bearers.” This unconventional practice persisted until Lyle’s reign. Charlene practically used the same procedure. Before being forced to adhere to the church’s rules, she filed for divorce from Lyle.

Charlene’s Life After Divorce

In 2015, Charlene was released from the FLDS and her husband. But in 2012, the church excommunicated or banned her. Sadly, she was not granted custody of her two children, a girl, 14, and a boy, 17.

Chalene was afraid that her husband might harass her two children sexually because she was aware of the procedures the church used. She battled for her two children’s custody. Thankfully, in April 2015, the court awarded her and her children shared custody.

These days, Charlene is quiet and lives outside of the FLDS in Hildale, Utah. Her perspective on church allegiance has evolved, and she is now focusing on raising her kids outside of the FLDS group. In addition, she received $1600 in child support from her ex-husband after their divorce.
