Corey was born on October 1, 1968, in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. He grew up enjoying football and played safety for San Diego Junior College in the NJCAA from 1986 to 1987. He subsequently transferred to Long Beach State in 1988, where he played for the defunct 49ers until 1989.

In 1991, he graduated from Long Beach State with a political science degree. In 1996, he went on to get a master’s degree in health, physical education, and leisure from St. Mary’s.

Batoon played football as a safety for San Diego Junior College in the NJCAA from 1986 to 1987. He subsequently transferred to Long Beach State in 1988, where he played for the defunct 49ers until 1989. In 1991, he graduated from Long Beach State with a political science degree.

Coaching Career of Corey Batoon:

Corey started his coaching career in 1991 as the defensive backs and special teams coach at Pierce Junior College. He subsequently transferred to St. Mary’s in 1993 and remained with the program until 1995. His next coaching position was at Central Missouri State in 1996.

In 1997, he entered the NCAA Division I ranks as an assistant coach at Montana. He then joined North Arizona in 1998 as an assistant head coach and defensive coordinator. He was with the Lumberjacks for 11 years until joining Arkansas State in 2009 as special teams coordinator.

Although he joined the Ole Miss staff in 2012 and has served many positions with the Rebels, including safeties coach, special teams coordinator, and recruiting coordinator. He left Ole Miss in 2016 and joined Florida Atlantic in 2017 as co-defensive coordinator, safeties coach, and special teams coordinator for Lane Kiffin.

In 2018, he relocated to Hawaii as a defensive coordinator and spent a season with the Rainbow Warriors. He then joined Liberty in 2019 as defensive coordinator under Hugh Freeze. He began working as the defensive coordinator and safeties coach at South Alabama in 2021.
