Macron was the oldest of three children born into a politically liberal family of doctors.
Prior to pursuing his studies in public service and foreign politics at the grande école des Sciences, Macron earned his baccalaureate at the esteemed Lycée Henri-IV in Paris.
As a finance inspector for the French Ministry of Economy and Finance, Macron started his career in the public sector in 2004.
Macron began working as an investment banker with Rothschild & Cie Banque in October 2008, the French part of the global Rothschild financial business.
Macron joined Hollande’s cabinet as a deputy chief of staff and economic counselor after Hollande was elected president.
Even though he was still a member of Hollande’s cabinet, Macron started to separate himself from him. After En Marche was introduced, Macron’s relationship with Hollande grew more tense.
