He finished his collegiate career with the North Carolina Tar Heels and was chosen sixth overall by Sacramento in the first round of the 1987 NBA draft. He played for the Sacramento Kings, Atlanta Hawks, Houston Rockets, Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic, and Denver Nuggets between 1987 and 1997.
