Childhood and Education
On July 25, 1957, Martin Diño was born in Quezon City, Philippines. He was sixty-six years old when he passed away. Martin was the son of educator Rosario Leon and former mayor of San Antonio, Quezon, Jose Dio. He was born and reared in Barangay San Antonio, where he also held the position of barangay captain for three years. Martin Dio graduated from the University of the Philippines Diliman with a bachelor’s degree in political science. After that, he continued his legal studies at the University of Santo Tomas. Martin started off in his career as a merchant and lawyer. He held positions in a number of industries, including mining, real estate, transportation, and construction. Martin also got involved in politics, holding the position of Barangay Captain in San Antonio, Quezon City, from 2007 to 2013. He selected as the Philippine League of Barangays’ (Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas) president in 2010. Under Rodrigo Duterte’s political organization, the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), Martin Dio filed for president in 2015.
