Nate Burleson was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, on August 19, 1981, to proud parents Alvin Burleson and Valerie Lynn Burleson. Alvin Burleson, his father, is a former American gridiron football player.

He began his career in the Canadian Football League (CFL) as a defensive back for the Calgary Stampeders from 1976 to 1981. Later that year, he joined the Los Angeles Express of the United States Football League (USFL).

Nate was also named second-team All-America by The Sporting News and CNN/SI. He currently holds the Nevada single-game receptions record with 19 catches and a WAC. Vikings of Minnesota

During the 2003 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings chose Burleson with the 71st pick. Nate was a good person during his first year of high school. He did, however, make a lot less money than he could have done. Because of how well Randy Moss had done for the Vikings the year before, the team thought he could hurt them. Burleson was Viking’s only choice, so they agreed. Nate did well, even though no one thought he would. For the first time in his career, he had more than 1,000 receiving yards. Nate fractured his forearm in two places on September 24th, 2013 as a result of an early morning single-car accident on Interstate 696 westbound near Drake Road in Farmington Hills, Michigan.

Nate complained of arm pain and was immediately transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. He was required to undergo surgery. Nate reportedly lost control of his vehicle while attempting to prevent a pizza from falling off a seat in his car. Additionally, Nate missed the final ten games of the 2013 season due to his injury. The team presented him with the Ed Block Courage Award upon his return. He was released by the Detroit Lions on February 13, 2014. Burleson led the team with 19 receptions prior to his accident, including six receptions for 119 yards in a 27-20 victory over Washington, his most productive game.

Browns of Cleveland

On April 6th, 2014, Nate signed a one-year contract with the Cleveland Browns. However, the Browns released him on February 13th, 2014, due to a lingering hamstring injury. He appeared in just one preseason game. He caught one pass on two targets for 27 yards in the preseason finale.
