He helped create the customs for the animated film Beauty and the Beast alongside Christian Berard and Jean Cocteau while working at the Paquin family home. He worked with Chez Schiaparelli before hiring Christian Dior.
He was able to create the 1947 “New Look” collection there. Dior was greatly attracted by his art and even stated that,
“DESIGNERS LIKE PIERRE CARDIN ARE THE FUTURE OF HAUTE COUTURE.”

Pierre Cardin’s Menswear
Long before they were popular today, Pierre delayed the development of men’s fashion and style. He dressed in a hot, attractive, extremely young way that would give a man height and youth. In 1957, Pierre opened Adam, his first-ever men’s store, in association with Eve boutique.
Unexpectedly, Cardin displayed a men’s collection in 1960 alongside University of Paris students. He claimed that “youth is fluid; age is stiff” in 1958. A line that flows with the body is my favorite. Finally, Reuter’s revealed in 1966 that this designer’s male revenue was $26 million, which was six times greater than his womenswear revenue.
Cardin is the first designer to use a Japanese model to show off his couture creations, in addition to these other innovations. Hiroko Matsumoto was her name, and over time, she turned into one of his inspirations. The fashion industry has undoubtedly become more diverse as a result. Hiroko’s appearance swept the media, and she gained notoriety over night.
