Pollard is the son of former University of Utah basketball player Marilyn Stout Pollard and Pearl Pollard. He grew raised in San Diego and Kennewick, Washington, with his siblings Alan Pollard, Carl Pollard, Lyne Pollard, Mark Pollard, and Neal Pollard.

Pollard attended Torrey Pines in San Diego before transferring to Kamiakin High School in Kennewick, Washington.
