Later, in 1996, he joined Bayern Leverkusen II’s youth squad and started his professional career there. He played in 7 league games for Bayern 04 Leverkusen between 1996 and 2005, but exclusively as a replacement. He was given a one-year loan to Belgian Cup champions Germinal Beerschot on July 9, 2005, so he could get some game experience. Also, he made 11 appearances for the team while on loan at Germinal Beerschot, scoring once across all competitions.

He transferred to 1. FC Nurnberg on January 2, 2006, but only made 2 appearances for the team in competitive play. He signed up with Vestel Manisaspor of the Turkish Super Lig on July 31, 2006. On August 13, 2006, he made his club debut in a 1-1 tie with Trabzonspor. On January 16, 2010, he transferred to Eskisehirspor for the second half of the 2009–10 campaign. He paid TRY 1.6 million for the move and agreed to a deal that would last until May 2012. Also, he made 17 appearances for the team during his first campaign, contributing 4 assists across all leagues and competitions while scoring once. He made 29 appearances for the team during the 2010–11 campaign, with 2 assists and 8 goals across all competitions.

He signed a four-year contract worth €3.75 million with the reigning champion Fenerbahce during the 2011 summer transfer window.
