Early life

Victor Davis Hanson is a columnist, military historian, ancient warfare scholar, and former classics professor from the United States. He was born on September 5, 1953, in Selma, California, and raised on a family farm in the San Joaquin Valley. His mother was a lawyer and judge, and his father was an educator and college administrator. He attended public education and graduated from Selma High School alongside his fraternal twin Alfred and older brother Nils. Hanson earned his bachelor’s degree in classics from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and his doctorate in classics from Stanford University.

Career

Hanson has contributed to The Washington Times, National Review, and other publications as a commentator on contemporary politics and modern warfare. He has been a visiting professor at Hillsdale College since 2004, and he was previously a professor emeritus of classics at California State University, Fresno. Apart from that, he is most known for his big blockbuster book Carnage and Culture: Landmark Battles in the Rise of Western Power, which he published in 2001.

Hanson also contributes to Tribune Media Services’ weekly column, which has appeared in The New York Times, The New Criterion, and American Heritage, among other publications. He started blogging for PJ Media in 2006. He is presently a Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution and a Fellow in California Studies at the Claremont Institute. Not only that, but he is also an emeritus professor at California State University, where he established the classics program.

Because of his dedication, President George W. Bush gave him the National Humanities Medal in 2007. He is, without a doubt, one of the greatest columnists of all time. His fearlessness in saying what he feels and his ability to convey his thoughts on current events, politics, and even politicians such as Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton through his books and articles are astounding.

Relationship status

Prior to discussing his personal life, he never addressed his wife or any details about her. He did, however, have a son named William Frank Hanson and a daughter named Susannah Merry Hanson, who passed away in November 2014 due to sickness. She was a lovely young lady and her father’s sweetheart. It was a devastating loss for Hanson, and it was the most trying time of his life.

He has always been successful in whatever he does, and it is only due to his dedication and passion for his profession. Despite numerous challenges in his business and personal life, he never gave up and continues to be strong.
