Katie Stubblefield, the youngest person in the United States to have facial surgery, is now residing in the Ronald McDonald House.

Katie Stubblefield lost her face when she was 18, and doctors at The Cleveland in Ohio gave her a new look when she reached twenty-one. On March 25, 2014, Stubblefield shot herself in the face with a firearm.

What Has Happened to Katie Stubblefield?

Katie Stubblefield is still a resident of Ronald McDonald House, where she receives counseling and anti-rejection drugs. Katie is well-cared for by her parents, Rob and Alesia Stubblefield.

The pair also told The Nightline that their kid hasn’t lost her sense of humor even during the most difficult times.

On May 4, 2017, she had her face surgery after three years and forty days of waiting. She receives a second opportunity in life as a result of her unsuccessful suicide attempt, which makes her realize many things.

What Happened To Katie Stubblefield’s Face?

Katie placed the barrel of her brother’s 308-caliber hunting rifle beneath her chin and fired the trigger, causing her face to be severed. She is the youngest person in the United States, having received a face transplant at the age of 21.

Before undergoing the face transplant, Rob and Alesia’s daughter underwent 22 procedures to fix her face. The physicians removed Adrea Schneider’s donor’s face after 31 hours of surgery.

Katie had her forehead, upper and lower eyelids, and eye sockets repaired. The nose, mouth, and lips, cheeks, upper jaw, a portion of the lower jaw, teeth, and facial muscles are all included.

She had lost her forehead and nose before the transplant, and the majority of her lips, jaw, and eyes had been severely damaged.

She allegedly attempted suicide after her partner cheated on her. The key reasons for surviving a suicide attempt are self-confidence and family support.

Stubblefield’s parents and siblings were instrumental in helping her cope with her challenges during her surgery treatments.

Katie’s mother, Alesia, was there to clean and console her, and she had to drink from a sippy cup due to her lack of lips. Adrea Schneider, the face donor, was a 31-year-old woman who died of a heroin overdose.

Sandra Bennington, the late Adrea’s grandmother, agreed to donate her grandchild’s face to Katie. So, kudos to Adrea’s grandmother for going to such lengths to donate her face.

Katie, the young woman who survived a suicide attempt, was born in 1997 in Mississippi, USA. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from California State University and Middle Tennessee State University, respectively.

She is cheerful, friendly, and lovely, yet this horrible catastrophe happened to her. Katie excelled as a student and athlete at Mississippi High School.

According to her father, she began playing soccer when she was four years old. She feels bad about what she has done to her family, who has also suffered as a result of her actions.
